The Building: The Tour des Canadiens needs little introduction. It is the first of three towers dubbed the ‘Best investment in Montreal’. This claim is still dubious but one thing one cannot argue with is that it the original is quite a building. The Tour de Canadiens is a very well designed building with elegant units. There is a 24/7 doorman service, the elevators have a unique system which maximises their speed, there is a dry and wet sauna, several lounges and common area terraces, a games room, several kitchens, and a large common area swimming pool and BBQ area.
The condos: Units in the Tour des Canadiens come in many shapes and forms. In fact, it is one of the most diverse type of buildings when it comes to all the different types of units available. The most popular are the one bedroom units which tend to be around 500 square feet and the one bedroom plus den area which are about 700 square feet and include a semi-closed bedroom which is very space effective. These units especially are reasonably priced. The finishings are good but unassuming. Their best feature is that they were designed for the space available and most kitchens have a breakfast bar which also doubles as a dining area. An ingenious way to create more space with the square footage available. There are many much larger units and the two bedroom formats start to look more interesting when they reach 1000 square feet and are located on a corner which allows for much more light to enter.
The location: The Tour des Canadiens development was the first building in the area followed by Roccabella, L’Avenue and Icone. Whilst as of 2019, the amenities in the area have significantly improved, they are still a little lacking given the number of residences. The recent arrival of a Provigo store located in L’Avenue building was a much-welcomed event. The good new is that there is plenty of potential for this area. It is currently better equipped to serve those who go to the Bell center events but with the economy going the way it is, the situation will steadily improve, and more stores will arrive to tend to the needs of what is quickly becoming one of Downtown’s wealthiest neighbourhoods.
